M for Medium

medium's foot

They call me medium. I like playing games most of the time. And this is my foot.I like my house that I live on right now. The house that I'm moving to is cool.

I'm 8 years old. I'm in the 2nd grade, school will be out this Thursday. I live in Kansas on a homestead. That's a small farm. I like our big tree out back, because it is just right for climbing. I have cats, Salt and Pepper. I like helping milk the cows. I like our turkeys and all the stars at night. I can see the big dipper and the little dipper.

I don't like it when our dog Buckets hits me with her tail. I don't like when my brothers call me names. I don't like cleaning my room.

We are moving to a bigger farm. I like the creek we have there. There is an island in it. I like the ponds when the frogs are out and I like the the underground springs the pop out of the banks of the creek. There is a really cool spot where we shoot our guns, a giant cotton wood died and fell there. I like climbing on it. We play tag on it too.

I don't like at the farm are the vines with the thorns on it and the rats. I don't like when I fall on all the rocks. Mom says they are flint rocks.

I don't like it when I kind of get lost. I don't like the bees that are there. There are too many of them.

Thank you for reading this , bye

  1. Hey Medium...my name is HermitJim! I'm glad to meet you! I have heard all about your family from your Mom and I think you are very lucky to be living in the country.

Thanks for starting a blog so that we can all keep up with what's going on in Kansas.

You are doing great so far!

  2. Hey there, Medium. We like lots of the same stuff - I like my little homestead in Tennessee with a creek, cats, shooting, and climbing trees. And I don't like cleaning my room, either! :-)

  3. Hi! Nice to meet you, Medium!

You are lucky that school is out next Thursday. My Big Sprout has to go for two more weeks.

Sounds like living at the big farm is going to be lots of fun. I look forward to hearing more about it!

  4. I don't like my brother calling me names either. Islands are cool! Someday I want to live on one!

  5. Cool that school is out Thursday - poor Wallene still has 22 more days [not including the weekends]

Both your homes sound great - I wish we had a nice creek by us - we like fishing and catching frogs [Wallene and me]

It was nice meeting you and your brothers - can't wait to read more.

  6. Hey guys!! I know this is Medium's post, but I'll borrow it to say hi to all of you, if that's ok.

I'm Wren, one of your Mom's BookCrossing friends. I've sort of known you guys since you were little bitty things--and Small since he was born. I sat home all day on the day he was born, waiting for your uncle to send me an email that you were here---and he forgot!! ;-)

When your folks came to Texas to get Sheep, I was so disappointed that they didn't bring you guys along.

Anyway, I look forward to reading your blog!!

  7. My Medium is also a boy (he has 2 sisters), but is a little older than you (10 years!). Neither he nor his sisters liked cleaning their rooms, but his big sister has a whole house to clean now! I need to dig out the streams & ditches in my big field, so that there will be 4 islands (not as fun as your island, though). My Small has named the smallest island HP Island ~ HP is short for Half Pint ~ the name her big sister gave her when she was small. She's now taller than her big sister, but is still known as HP!

  8. Sounds like you have a great new house! My family and I are moving from an apartment to a house next week. Finally, my kids will have a yard to run around and play in but we won't have a creek or an island. Have fun with your new place!

  9. That is a wrinkly foot. Have you been in the water too long? I'm a Mom of 5 boys, so let me guess... hmm... you got your shoes and socks all wet about an hour ago. Sounds like my middle boy. He's all grown up now, but HIS boy is your age, and I'll bet his socks are wet too.

Medium, thank you for sharing your thoughts. It is not easy to share ones thoughts (I am a retired firefighter with about 30 years) and I still find it hard to share thoughts every now and then. I enjoy reading about you and your brothers experiences and think you guys are really great at this. Thank you, Gary

The boys love comments. Just remember that their parents read and approve comments.
